SOFA Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up

December 4, 2020, Friday @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Sign up to be on our list to volunteer.

Hwy 18, Rim of the World Scenic Byway, is part of the 107 mile National Forest Scenic Byway through our San Bernardino Mountains.

This beautiful drive includes sweeping vistas of our mountains and the valley below.  Lately, it seems that Hwy 18 and many of our local roads have become more littered with trash discarded by motorists.  Whether by careless visitors or residents this trash diminishes the grandeur of our natural landscape and even threatens our safety (discarded cigarette butts).

Save Our Forest Association (SOFA) volunteers will be cleaning our Adopt-A-Hwy section of Hwy 18 between Hortencia’s Cliffhanger Restaurant and Rimforest this Friday morning from 9-12 am, meeting at Red Rock Wall turnout.

Join us if you can in helping keep our local roads trash free and dispose of litter responsibly. Let us know you can participate by signing up on our volunteer page.

Meet at Red Rock Wall, large turnout 1 mile east of
Hortencia’s/Cliffhanger Restaurant. Coffee and breakfast treats provided !

Dear concerned residents and supporters,

The Church of the Woods proposed project (Sonrise) was introduced in 2003 as a church facility with a private school and multiple recreational fields. The project has been redesigned several times and the FINAL PUBLIC HEARING for approval or denial is scheduled for Tuesday October 20th.

The proposed site impacts local traffic and would require 7 new stoplights, requires clear cutting 17 acres of forested Little Bear Creek Watershed, disrupts a County identified wildlife corridor, risks polluting Little Bear Creek which provides most of the water into Lake Arrowhead, and will severely compromise evacuation safety in a natural disaster.

Email your Supervisor to VOTE NO on this project.
